Tuesday Book Discussion

robertpeaceTuesday, June 14th at 1:00pm. The nonfiction work “The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace “ by Jeff Hobbs is the work to be discussed at the June meeting of the Killingworth Library’s Tuesday Book Discussion Group. It is the story of Shawn whose drug dealing father teaches him to fight, intimidate and become a dealer on the streets of Newark. It is also the story of Rob, whose mother works to help her  very intelligent son escape his neighborhood, buying him encyclopedias one book at a time and seeking out successful schools that will enroll him. That seeking will result in his being accepted at Yale where his tuition will be paid by a bank executive. Molecular biophysics and biochemistry will be his majors.
The stunning centrality of this narrative is that Shawn and Rob are one person, Robert DeShaun Peace.
Extra copies are available at the circulation desk. Newcomers always welcome!
