Tuesday, March 8th at 1:00pm. “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” by Mohsin Hamid is the novel being discussed at the March meeting of the Tuesday Book Discussion Group. It is a story told entirely by the narrator, a young Pakistani, who has invited a random American to have tea with him. As they sit at an open air cafe in Lahore, the young man tells the stranger the story of his life. He is Ivy League educated and had early success as a financial analyst in New York City. He traveled on business and witnessed the twin towers come down while in the Philippines. Both day and story grow darker as the hours pass.
Extra copies of the book are available at the circulation desk. Newcomers always welcome!
