By adopting an author at the Killingworth Library, you can help us to purchase new titles by popular authors, while also freeing up space in our budget for other items!
Individuals who wish to adopt an author pledge to sponsor the purchase of their new books for one year, with the option to renew annually. The cost per book is $15 (slightly less than the average cost-per-book for the library, after our discount). For particularly prolific authors who release many books per year, you may choose to sponsor titles from just one series.
In exchange for your sponsorship, you will be the first on the list to read any new titles by your adopted author. We will also insert a bookplate with your name inside the cover, recognizing you for your gift to the library.
By adopting your favorite author, you’ll save money compared to buying their books yourself, while still getting the chance to read them as soon as they release. If you’re interested, please contact Ben Sodergren at [email protected] or call (860) 663-2000. Thank you for supporting the library!

Like all libraries, the Killingworth Library removes older items from its collection on a regular basis to make room on the shelves for new books. The decision to weed a book is based on several factors including age, condition, and number of circulations. Please understand that sponsored books will be subject to the same weeding guidelines as all of our other items.
