Library Services Announcement
Killingworth Library is excited to announce the next phase in restoring our library services – we will be opening the main room for patron browsing and PC utilization (both by appointment) effective Saturday, August 1:
Main Room Schedule – Open by Appointment Only
Wednesday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Thursday: Noon – 6:00 pm
Friday: Noon – 6:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Browsing will be scheduled in 30-minute increments, and our PCs can be reserved for a maximum of 1 hour. Staff will also provide copying and FAX services.
You can make your appointment by calling the library at (860) 663-2000, available Monday – Friday, 10 am – 4:00 pm or by emailing: mail@killingworthlibrary.org.
We have worked hard to meet safety protocols: there are large sneeze guards at the circulation desk, hand sanitizer in multiple locations, and disposable gloves for your use while browsing or using one of our PCs. We will limit the number of patrons in the building at one time. Masks or face coverings will be required while in the building and we request that you maintain social distancing standards and observe any directional markings and signage. Please note that our children’s room, conference room, and restrooms will remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future.
Curbside service will continue to be available, and we encourage you to make use of it. Also remember that our website is “open” 24 hours a day, with free access to e-books and audio books through both Libby/Overdrive and Hoopla. Library materials are still to be returned using the library drop box.
We are excited about this modified reopening of the Library; it has been such a long time since we saw you in person! Due to changes in our lives and library services during the ongoing pandemic, we bid farewell to several familiar faces among the staff, the Library Board, and the desk volunteers and wish them all well: Children’s Librarian Gayle Byrne, who during her 20 years with the Library served a generation of Killingworth’s children; Kristina Sanso, part-time employee; Bob Bellonio, Board Member; Sue Dineen, BJ Folger, and Joanne Hine, long-time Volunteers.
We are always so appreciative of the ongoing work of Board members, our returning volunteers, and our dedicated staff. Thank you!
