On Thursday, May 16th, the Homeschool Book Club for ages 10-12 will be discussing Hoot by Carl Hiaasen at 11:30-12:30 pm.
This Newbery Honor winner and #1 New York Times bestseller is a beloved modern classic. Hoot features a new kid and his new bully, alligators, some burrowing owls, a renegade eco-avenger, and several extremely poisonous snakes.
When several children learn that an area used as a critical habitat for burrowing owls is on the brink of being destroyed by a construction company, they stage a protest to protect the owls. Let’s read and find out if they are successful.
The novel was adapted into a film of the same name in 2006.
