HK’s Role in the Great War

philpasspicThursday, April 14th at 7:00pm, held at the Killingworth Library (venue updated 3/23). Presented by Phil Devlin. This program will focus both on the long-term consequences of the Great War to our world as well as the local participation of 67 men from Haddam and Killingworth and the very tragic death of one man from Chester who were part of the nearly 63,000 men and women from Connecticut who fought in the war.

A resident of Higganum, Philip R. Devlin taught English, history, and Latin at Haddam-Killingworth High School for 30 years. He was named high school teacher of the year twice and district teacher of the year once. The son of a career military officer, he has a keen interest in military history, especially the history of both world wars, and has given dozens of presentations to historical societies, schools, and civic organizations throughout the state in the years since his retirement.

The event is free but advance sign up is required.
