When liberal Democratic Senator Robert F. Kennedy appeared on the Dick Cavett show in the spring of 1968, Cavett asked him to name the man he most admired in American history. After pausing a few seconds, RFK looked up and said “Herbert Hoover”, to Cavett’s astonishment. Long demonized for being responsible for the Great Depression, Herbert Hoover is revered in Europe for his unmatched humanitarian efforts to save millions of lives. Many interesting anecdotes and facts about this great man will surely make viewers see him in a new light.
