Artist Reception with Daniel Dahlstrom

Dahlstrom001Saturday, September 13th from 10am to noon. Light refreshments will be served.
Dan Dahlstrom is a Connecticut native, was raised in Essex, and worked in the family decorating business for many years; he currently resides in Chester. His work has been accepted into many local juried shows, including the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, Connecticut, held in conjunction with the Lyme Art Association.
He has studied at the prestigious Lyme Art Academy, and with several professional, local artists. Presently, he is working on several pieces for his upcoming exhibits, and you can find commissioned pieces on display at the Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook, The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam, and in private collections. He also works with select interior designers, who follow his expanding body of work.
Comfortable working both “en plein air” and in his studio, Dan states: “Studying the Connecticut River and Shoreline is one of my passions, and then capturing that atmosphere and all the water’s nuances on canvas. Watching the subtle play of light and shadow at dawn and dusk is part of my creative process, and then using my brushes to relate what I envision. My goal is to depict the colors and composition of the New England landscape onto my painting and ultimately to the viewer. Nature is my muse.
“The viewer of my work, is invited to become part of my New England landscapes and seascapes. I want them to be transported to the colors and tranquility of nature, and feel as if they are an element of the artwork and can just walk into it. Thus, becoming a component of the process, and there with me—in time and space.”
Dan’s smaller works will be featured in the library’s display case through the month of September.
