Tuesday, February 11, 1 – 2 pm at Killingworth Library. Join us as we discuss Northland: a 4,000 Mile Journey Along America’s Forgotten Border by Porter Fox.
The work describes Fox’s 4,000 mile adventure along our U.S./Canadian boundary with an appreciation for both the area’s history and its wildness. The main character for this journey is the land itself, an almost untouched wilderness of trees, lakes, rivers, mountains and more lakes.
The people woven into the narrative include the ghosts of long gone Indians, explorers, and fur traders. There is a balance of past and present as the author focuses equally on land and people. Fox’s interviews with Native Americans and local businessmen get to the basics of their lives and philosophies without being intrusive.
