Tuesday, November 10th, 1:00pm. Join us as we discuss “The Lowland” by Jhumpa Lahiri. It is the story of two brothers growing up in a Calcutta neighborhood destined to follow very different paths as adults. One joins the Naxalite revolutionary movement of the 1960s and the other goes to America (Rhode Island) to study oceanography. “The Lowland” is a well-written story of the pull of past and place, truths withheld and commitments pledged. Lahiri is also the author of “The Namesake”.
Extra copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk, and newcomers are always welcome
