Tuesday, June 13th at 1:00pm. Join us as we discuss The Leopard by Giuseppe di Lampedusa. Set in 1860s Sicily, it follows the life of Prince Fabrizio de Salinas, referred to simply as the Prince. Salinas is painfully aware of the winds of change swirling around him, change which on a large scale includes the revolution of the working classes, and on a smaller scale, the growing limitations of an aging body and feelings of irrelevance. Some critics have considered Lampedusa’s novel the key to understanding Italy. One New York Times reviewer said “The Leopard reads more like a 19th century novel, a perfect evocation of a lost world.”
