Tuesday, October 11th, 1:00pm. Join us as we discuss Ta-Nehisi Coates’s “Between the World and Me”. Winner of the 2015 National Book Award for Non Fiction, it is written in the form of a letter to a black teenage boy, Coates’s 15 year old son. It is in part a warning to his son about the dangers to his black body that everyday life on American streets can present. It is in part an essay taken from the front pages of our papers and TV newsrooms. It is in part the author’s own life experiences. As a whole and in our time, it is an informative read. Extra copies of the book can be found at the circulation desk. Newcomers always welcome!
