The radio sketch, entitled, Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Speckled Band, was originally written by Edith Meiser but extensively edited by Gillette himself. He knew Sherlock like no other actor at that time, having created and played the detective for many years on stages all over the world. He would go on to do at least two other radio broadcasts portraying England’s most famous sleuth (1933 and 1935). Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Speckled Band was originally broadcast in NY City on October 20th 1930.
Fresh from their summer run at Gillette Castle State Park, EHSCO’s 4 actors portray 7 different characters in this mystery drama as well as providing sound effects. With an introduction by EHSCO’s Producing Artistic Director, Kandie Carle, the presentation runs one hour, including Q &A with the audience. More info on the show can be found at www.EHSCO.org.
Tickets are $5.00 per person or $8.00 per family of four if purchased in advance at the Library. If purchased at the door, the price will be be $6 per person or $10 for a family of four.
Some parental guidance is advised for young children. It is a murder mystery.
