KWO Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention Reading List

domestic-violenceAs part of our on-going efforts to raise awareness and inform the community about Domestic Violence, we have created a list of books (Fiction, Non-fiction & Young Adult), wherein the core subject involves domestic violence and/or abusive relationships.

The list was created to suit various reading interests and sensitivity levels. We have noted which books may contain subject matter or writing that is more graphic. If the Killingworth Library does not have the book you want, please ask the wonderful staff for their assistance as they may be able to obtain the book from a neighboring library.

We’ve also provided informative materials and hotline cards if you or someone you know needs help — Please help yourself and pass the information along as needed. The KWO would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone of his/her ability to help others by gaining a better understanding of the issue; to those living with abuse, it is often compassion and understanding from others that can be the light of hope that illuminates the door which leads out of these situations. If you are in such a situation, please know that help is available by calling 888-774-2900.

If you would like to make a monetary donation in support of our Domestic Violence
Awareness & Prevention efforts, please make a check payable to:

“Killingworth Women’s Organization” and write “DVAP” in the check notation line.

Mail check to KWO, PO Box 952, Killingworth, CT 06419. Donation receipts for tax purposes will be mailed upon receipt of a check. Thank you in advance for your support in our efforts.

The Killingworth Women’s Organization (KWO) is a non-profit organization founded in 2003, consisting of local philanthropic women volunteers dedicated to helping others in our town and to maintaining a network of women to build a stronger sense of community for ourselves and others. We are affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Connecticut (GFWC/CT). In 2013, we launched our campaign on Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention (DVAP) as a signature cause.
