Thursday, May 28th at 7:00pm. Join us as we wrap up the discussion with Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.
Presented by Dr. Mark Schenker of Yale University, “Imagined Women” looks at a series of novels that have a woman as the central focus and discusses the heroines both as fictional characters in the context of the novel (how are they created?) AND as credible people who tell us something about real women in the historical context in which the novel was written (what can they teach us?). The novels give a range of authors (French, American and English) as well as time periods ranging from mid-19th to early 20th centuries.
Extra copies of the books will be available at the circulation desk.
The event is free but advance sign up is encouraged. Please call the Killingworth Library at 860-663-2000 to reserve your space.
