Starting June 30th, the Connecticut State Library will shut down the statewide online interlibrary loan network (ReQuest), with a plan to implement a new online system in the fall.
Killingworth patrons will still be able to obtain items through interlibrary loan during this downtime. You may submit your request directly to us either through a paper form (at the circulation desk) or by email: interlibraryloan@killingworthlibrary.org. Be sure to provide us with the title, author, and format of the item you want (book, large print, audio, video, etc.) – the more details, the better, so we can get the correct item for you!
Processing times for interlibrary loans will take longer during this period. We beg your patience and understanding that all libraries in the state will be experiencing the same issues.
We will have instructions on our website’s card catalog and “My Account” pages. We will also provide links to other nearby libraries, if you would like to search their catalogs for direct pick-up of materials (but remember to check our collection first – we may have what you want).
The State Library budget has been cut continually for many years now, and they have decided to provide the statewide ReQuest catalog through a new, less expensive, source. The transition is technically complex and will require at least a few months to complete. They hope to have the new system online in the fall, but there is no specific date yet. We will provide updates when we know more.
