January’s display case features an extended show of Sandy Smith’s oil paintings, with new additions to the December collection. Barns on River Road and Route 81 are featured, as well as scenes to remind us all of the warmer months: cyclamen blooms, Hammonasset in summer, and a charming pair of bluebirds. Speaking of bluebirds, be sure to also check out Sandy’s “Birds of Killingworth” quilt, hanging near the circulation desk. Celebrating familiar birds of all four seasons, the quilt also highlights Longfellow’s poem – one verse sewn on the front, and the entire poem handwritten on the back.
